(1) God is holy. We are sinners.

1 Samuel 2:2 ""There is none holy like the LORD; there is none besides you; there is no rock like our God.

1 John 1:5 "This is the message we have heard from him and proclaim to you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness at all."

The Bible speaks of us as sinners by choice and by nature.

Jeremiah 17:9 “The heart is deceitful above all things. And desperately wicked; Who can know it?”
Romans 3:23 “For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.” Romans 6:23 "For the wages of sin is death but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord."

We are each in need of radical forgiveness and deep heart change.


(2) We are helpless to accomplish this for ourselves.

You and I cannot erase our guilt before God nor can we give ourselves a new heart. 

Ephesians 2:8-9 “For by grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves; it is the gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.”

Romans 5:8 "But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us."

"Light has come into the world, but men loved darkness instead of light." John 3:19

Knowing about this gift isn't enough. We must each accept this free gift.

(3) Our hope is in the mercy and grace of God.

God can accomplish in us what we cannot do ourselves. We must look away from ourselves to Him.

Isaiah 45:22 “Look to Me, and be saved, All you ends of the earth! For I am God, and there is no other.”
1 Corinthians 15:3-4 “For I delivered to you first of all that which I also received; that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures and that He was buried, and that He rose again the third day according to the Scriptures.”

Acts 4:10-12 "It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed. He is " 'the stone you builders rejected, which has become the capstone'. Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved."

John 3:16 "For God so loved the world that He gave His one and only Son that whoever believes in Him shall not perish but have eternal life."

John 14:6 "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me."

John 3:36 "Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God's wrath remains on him."

John 8:12 "Again Jesus spoke to them, saying, "I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will not walk in darkness, but will have the light of life."

(4) Repent from the heart and believe with your heart the good news.

Romans 10 9-10 “That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe  in your heart that God has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.”

John 1:12 "To all who received him to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God."
